Egypt and open skies.
The national library and Archives hosts the comunication expert MR /Amin Basyouni to talk in a seminar about "Egypt and open skies" at 7.00 p.m in Wednesday 14/2/2001, and that's a pert of the cultural program " "Egypt…. Future visions".
The seminar is presided by journalist "Magda Mourris ", and is attended by a large number of writers, intellectuals and journalist.

Mervit EL Tellawy talks about the future of woman in Egypt
as a part of the cultural program "Egypt …future visions" which is organized by the national library for three months. A seminar will be held about the future of woman in Egyptian society.
Mervit EL Tellawy, the secretary general of the national council of women, will give speech in this seminar which will he held at 7.30 PM in Wednesday 6/12/2000 at the seminar's hall in the National archives.

The national library discusses the environment future in Egypt
as a part of the cultural program " Egypt, …future vision" which is organized by the national library in three months. A seminar is held about "the environment future in Egypt".
DR/Abdel Fatah EL Kassas will give speech in this seminar at 7.30 p.m. Wednesday 29/11/2000 at the semeniars hall in the national Archives.

Acomission of culture and communication ministeries was formed to computerized national documents.
Farouk Houssni, the minister of culture issued a decision to form a joint commission from the expert of national Archives, and the center of documentation of the civilizational Heritage in the ministry of communication to make an integrated project to computerize all the national documents, in order to keep them and make the best out of them, and to connect them to the microfilms machines.
That was announced by Samir Ghareeb, the chairman of the national library and Archines, and he added that the commission will finish the project in two months including the reguired costs and the length of its execution.
It is important to mention that the national Archives has about 13 BKm of documents which can be traced back to the Fatimid period until now, and among those documents, the documents of Mohamed Ali Fanily and the reuolutionr of 1952.

The cancelling of the international seminar on Archives which was decided to be held in Idtrsl.
It has been decided that the international Seminar on archives to be held in Israel nexst October is cancelled, and Rejkiavik (ÑíßíÇÝíß) the capital of Iceland was chosen to host the seminar instead of Israel.
That was announced by Samir Ghareeb, the chairman of the national library and Archives. He added that he received a letter from MR / Ian Wilson, the chairman of the international council on Archives, including the conciliation of the seminar in Israel which is a result of the Arabic and Islamic efforts, especially during the fourteenth meeting of the international council on Archives in the Spanish city Ashoilia (ÃÔÈáíÉ).
It was also a result of the recent state in the Arab occupied land. |

As a part of the cultural program "Egypt Future visions" the national library hosts DR/Osama El Bas, the political counselor of the preridut, who will give a speech about peace between Arabs and Israel, in wecresday severing 15/11/2000 at the Seninasrs hall in the national Archives.
And that comes as an expression of the need to provide people with a future vision especially after the events in the Palestinian occupied land.

A group of seminars about the future of Egypt to be conducted in the national library and archives
The national library and archives which organizes a cultural program called "Egypt.. Future visions "the seminars starts at 1.00 P.M every Wednesday in the seminars hall at the national archives and will continue until the end of next January.
The Seminars start at the evening of the 8 Th of November as follow :
- DR. Ahmed Moustageer, the former dean of the faculty of agriculture, will give a speech about his views about the future of food in Egypt Wednesday 8/11/2000.
- DR.Osama Elbaz, the political councilor of the president, will talk about the future of peace between Arabs and Israel. Wednesday 15/11/2000.
- DR. Alai Eldeen Helal, the minister of youth, will give a speech about the future of youth. Wednesday 22/11/2000.
- DR. Abdel Fatah Elkassas, will give a speech about the future of environment. Wednesday 24/11/2000.
- DR. Mervit Eltalawi, secretary general of the national council of women, will talk about the future of women. Wednesday 6/12/2000.
- The artist Mohamed Sobhi will give a speech about the future of the art of theatre. Wednesday 13/12/2000.
- DR. Mahmoud Abou zied, minister of irrigation and water resources, will give a speech about the future of water. Wednesday 20/12/2000.
- Critic Moustafa Darweesh, will give a speech about the future of Egyptian movies industry. Wednesday 10/1/2001.
- DR. mohamed Yousri, chairman of the scientific research Academy, will give a speech about the future of scientific research. Wednesday 17/1/2001.
- The national Library and Archives will publish a book includes all the speeches and speeches and studies that were included in the cultural program. |

Arabic language is a formal language in the international council on archives on its last meeting.
The international council on archives agreed to close Samir Ghareeb, chairman of the national library and archives, as a councilor, representing the Arab countries, among from councilors representing international regional groups.
The council also agreed to chose MR / EL Monsef EL Fakhfakh from Tunisia to be a vice president of the council for evaluation program.
The Arab group will pay the costs of oral and written translation from Arabic to foreign language, and vise versa. This is the first time that Arabic language is considered a formal language in the international council on Archives which contains 190 counties and 50 non governmental organization after 56 of his establishment.

Hamza, the announcer of a T.V program called "A Tour in a
Library", had prepared a documentary film about The National Library
& Archives, will be broadcasting soon on the High Education Nile
Special Channel. This program has the intention of showing the role of The
Egyptian Library in culture diffusion, and the preservation of The
cultural Arabic & National heritage. After the interview with Mr.
Samir Gharib, the Chairman of The Board, she met the Heads of The Central
Administration in the National Library, Archives, and the specialized
Centers. |

seminar called "Palestine", was held for celebrating a century
passing since the war, in 1948. A huge number of history scientists had
attended this seminar such as; Younan Labib Rizk, the Head of Scientific
Committee, in the Center of Document & Contemporary History of Egypt;
Dr. Abd El Wahab Bakr, the organizor of the seminar; and Dr. Hamed Abd El
Rehim Eid, the Head of Scientific Centers. The seminar had prolonged
during two days (23-24 February 2000), where 13 researches had been
discussed, covering all its dimensions: political ones, strategic, and
military ones. |

family of islamic writer Dr. Aisha Abd El Rahman had offered her private
library to The National Egyptian Library. Samir Gharib, Chairman of The
Board, had decided to save it into a private hall under the surname of the
great writer, "The Daughter of The Beach". |

 | The
employees of Bibliography and Computers Center had prepared special
programs for creating a data base for Restoration & Microfilms'
center, also as a data base for the unique collection of Holy Qura'ans
which belongs to The National Library. |

H.E.The Prime Minister Dr. Atef Ebid has approved the
allocation of 11.5 million Egyption pounds to the fire alarm & fight
system.
The contract has been signed with the presecne of H.E. Mr.Farouk Hosny ,
Minster of Culture and Mr.Samir Gharib the Chairman. |
