 As we participate
in the formation of the country’s future and in the attainment of further
horizons for the progress of new generations, we feel the utmost happiness
whenever any new scientific addition in the cultural field occurs.
Culture has a most essential function in preparing generations capable
of materializing development in every field: economic, political, and social.
Thus it is imperative for culture to keep an up-to-date pace with the
latest scientific methodologies and technological advancements… these new
advancements help utilizing local talents and precious creativity, and gives way
for bridging up with global creativity and invaluable achievements.
We are aware of the fact that the remarkable technological revolution,
which characterizes our modern world, dictates that we ought to move ahead,
utilizing all the power at our possession, to keep up with the new era of
information and Internet boom. For the future of the coming generations as well
as our ability to survive and compete are mostly determined by the extent of
power elements at our disposal. However, acquiring power is not any more just
limited to possession of modern arms and military supremacy, rather it requires
the possession of the modern mechanisms of knowledge and sciences, because it is
through such mechanisms, of which the latest is the Internet, that man is able
to control the world from his office or his research center.
Accordingly, we proceeded
in the cultural
arena with modernization and development, coping with the latest of what the
modern sciences have to offer in the fields of the antiquities, the theatre, the
plastic arts, the book and so forth, driven by our faith in the nature of Egypt’s
role, which has always been set by its deeply rooted history and its invaluable
participation in the human progress and civilization.
DarElKotob (The National Library & Archives of
Egypt) has been always a pioneer in its field, due to its long history and
intellectual ingenuity, whereas it glows with original values and magnificent
traditions. Thus, it was but
natural that DarElKotob (The National Library & Archives of Egypt) presumes
the leadership role and takes off with its rich traditions to cope with the
current international knowledge system, opening up to its streams and
participating in its achievements as well as benefiting from its outcomes and
technologies in a manner that creatively maintains the balance between
DarElKotob’s commitment to the preservation of human traditions, and its
rational openness towards the most recent systems applied in science and
technology.
Thus, I am extremely pleased with the inauguration of
this new site, which represents a civilized shifting in the path of DarElKotob
(The National Library & Archives of Egypt). I would like as well to extend my sincere greetings to all
those who participated in this achievement and exerted their best efforts that
Dar Elkotob remains to be the light-house for the human intellect, glowing its
light over the world of culture everywhere.
